Testimonials

Mary Kingston Roche presented at Elevate 2023, a virtual conference for social sector leaders hosted by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Her presentation, “Creating Curious Communities and Nurturing Courageous Curiosity,” was an absolute delight. Mary’s energy and passion for instilling a culture of curiosity in communities was evident from the get-go.

Mary’s four-step process was practical and easy to follow. Attendees absolutely loved it! Mary’s knowledge and experience in the nonprofit sector shone through in her presentation, too. She provided tools and strategies that could be immediately implemented by nonprofit leaders to nurture a culture of curiosity within their organizations.

Overall, I found Mary’s presentation to be highly informative and inspiring. She is a true expert in her field. I recommend Mary to anyone looking to foster a culture of curiosity within their organization. Thank you, Mary, for an excellent session!

“This was an excellent session. It challenges me. I think sometimes risk can dampen curiosity and we have to be willing to step out of our comfort zones to explore curiosity. I think curious communities could be a great tool for building more diverse and equitable communities and organizations.”

Forrest Doolen

“In this session specifically, I enjoyed the 4 steps (awaken, explore, strengthen, and enrich) and I will definitely take these back to my organization and have us continue to be curious and innovative thinkers. Bridging differences really helps when one is curious – while also being respectful and never judgmental. We can learn from others’ points of view by listening more and having authentic dialogue.

Thanks again for the session – a lot for me to think about and be even more curious about.”

Kyle O’Kane

“This session really spoke to me and has motivated me to build and practice more curiosity in my day to day. I tend to feel bogged down in the workplace and I realize I’ve let my curiosity fade. But I didn’t realize it until Mary’s session. Well done and thank you for reminding me to think more about creating a curious community. I think this will help me find more creativity in the workplace and space to explore possibilities that maybe haven’t been thought of yet.

A great session!”

Erica Fuller

“This session motivated me to think about how we can further encourage and uphold curiosity as a leadership capacity and as a strategy to build curious organizational cultures and other nonprofit leaders.

Thank you for the inspiration to keep thinking about this.”
